Student Handbook
How this university works, where you will be placed, what its certificates mean, and the standard every student studies under. Read it once and you know the whole road.
How the University Works
There is no tuition and no application to be approved. The school runs in four plain steps:
- Begin with the free Placement Test. Every new student starts with the Bible Placement Test — 50 multiple-choice questions and 5 short answers, scored the moment you finish with a percentage and a letter grade. It places you at one of the four levels, points you to your exam tier, and routes you to a starter course for any section that needs strengthening.
- Study the teaching videos. Each course is taught verse by verse from the King James Bible in teaching videos on the Grace Team Seattle YouTube channel — free to watch, in order, at your own pace. The course of study is the same for every student, at every level.
- Take the exam at your level. Every teaching carries four exams — a Level 1 Exam (the gentlest), a Level 2 Exam, a Level 3 Exam, and a Level 4 Exam (the most thorough) — all drawn from the same teaching. Your placement level points you to your starting exam, and any student may reach for a higher level. Every exam is scored with a percentage and a letter grade the moment you submit: multiple-choice questions are graded instantly, and written answers come back to you with the course's model answers to review.
- Pass — and claim your certificate. A score of 70% — a letter grade of C or better — passes any exam, at any level. Passing earns your Certificate of Completion for that exam, naming the teaching and the level you passed, with your percentage score and letter grade, drawn up under the university seal and ready to print and keep.
The Four Levels — One Course, Four Exams
Grace Team University has one course of study for everyone. There are no level tracks and no separate level courses: the teachings, the books, and the order of study are identical for every student. What the four levels govern is the exams.
Every teaching carries four exams, drawn from its own question bank. The Level 1 Exam is the gentlest — a short set of the most basic questions. The Level 2 Exam is fuller. The Level 3 Exam is the teaching's complete exam set. The Level 4 Exam is the most thorough — the full set plus every written review and study-guide question the teaching holds. Your placement level points you to your starting tier; any student may attempt a higher level at any time, and passing at 70% (a C or better) earns the Certificate of Completion naming that level.
Foundations of the Faith
Begin here — and welcome! Place in Foundations of the Faith for a full grounding in the Scriptures from the beginning.
The gentlest tier — the most basic questions of each teaching
Growing in the Word
A working knowledge, with clear gaps. Place in the Growing in the Word track and fill each weak section with its starter course.
The fuller tier — the basic questions and more of the set
Bible Student
Solid Bible knowledge with room to grow. Place in the Bible Student track; take the starter course for any section scored under 60%.
The full tier — the teaching’s complete exam set
Advanced–Ministry Training
You have a strong command of Scripture and doctrine. Place in advanced courses and ministry training; consider teaching assistance and preaching preparation.
The most thorough tier — the full set, written questions included
Score under 60% in any of the five sections and you are routed to that section's starter course alongside your level courses. And because doctrine is the foundation, a Core Doctrine score under half holds placement at Level 2 until Foundations of the Faith — This We Believe is complete.
The Three Certificates
Certificate of Completion
For one teaching, mastered at your level. Pass any one of a teaching's four level exams — 70% or better, a letter grade of C or better — and receive a formal certificate bearing the university seal, your name, the level exam you passed (for example, “Proverbs 5 — Level 2 Exam”), your percentage score and letter grade, and the date.
Certificate of Placement
Issued by the Bible Placement Test. It records the level you were placed at, your percentage score and letter grade, your section scores, and any starter courses routed to you — the official start of your course of study.
Certificate of Graduation
For a whole course, finished. Pass every exam in one complete series — all 31 chapters of Proverbs, all 43 sections of the Kings, or any other full course — and the university confers its Certificate of Graduation in your name.
Code of Conduct
Four rules govern every student of this university:
- Study honestly. Watch the teaching and read the Scriptures for yourself before you sit the exam. Your certificate should mean exactly what it says.
- No copying answers. Every answer you submit is to be your own work, from your own study. The model answers shown after an exam are given for review — to learn from, not to copy.
- The King James Bible is the text. All Scripture in the teachings, the exams, and the certificates is quoted from the KJV. When you quote Scripture in a written answer, quote it from the KJV.
- Conduct worthy of the Word. You are studying to be a workman approved unto God. Let your conduct — here and everywhere — match the Book you are learning.
New student? Take the Placement Test and begin. Returning student? Go to the courses.
