Verse of the Day
One verse of Scripture for every day — the King James text, a short commentary, and an inspirational quote from the old saints. Every day is kept here, so you can look back through the whole archive.
Zephaniah spent most of his prophecy warning Judah of coming judgment, yet the book closes with this promise to the humbled remnant: God Himself dwells in their midst, mighty to save. And more than saving them, He rejoices over them — the Judge of all the earth singing with joy over His redeemed people.
If you belong to Him, you are not merely tolerated — you are delighted in. On the days you feel small and overlooked, remember heaven's King is singing over you.
The righteous man's life bears fruit the way a healthy tree does — naturally, and others eat from it and live. Solomon then names the highest wisdom a man can show: not wealth, not learning, but winning souls to God.
Your life should feed people. Aim at one soul today — one conversation, one tract, one prayer offered for a name you know.
In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus answers the anxiety of His hearers — food, drink, clothing — with a reordering of the heart. Seek the kingdom first, and the Father takes responsibility for the rest; the promise is not idleness rewarded but priorities healed.
Put God's reign first today in the two places it shows: your schedule and your spending. Anxiety loses its argument when the King holds first place.
Paul writes to churches tempted to quit doing good because the fruit was slow in coming. The promise is agricultural: harvests keep seasons, not schedules. The only way to miss the crop is to faint before the season arrives.
Keep sowing in the hard soil — the street corner, the family member, the long prayer. Due season is God's calendar, and it has never once missed an appointment.
Solomon's counsel is to roll the whole weight of your work onto the LORD — the word is the picture of a man handing over a burden too heavy to carry. When the work is truly committed to Him, God settles the thoughts: the plans stop churning and take the shape He intends.
Before today's work begins, hand it to Him by name — the job, the errand, the preaching. Plans clutched in your own hands breed anxiety; plans committed to God get established.
