The Sermons

Watchman, What of the Night?Sermon No. 1 · Grace Team UniversitySermon No. 1 — the first official sermon of Grace Team University.
A full biblical study of the watchmen of Scripture: the office created in Ezekiel, the cry out of Seir — “Watchman, what of the night?” — the watchmen on the walls of Jerusalem, Habakkuk on his tower, the night watches, and the Lord’s own command, “Watch ye.” The study that stands behind the university’s news watch, The Watchman, whose seal carries the watchman’s charge: “Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others” (Philippians 2:4).

Refuting ExistentialismSermon No. 2 · Grace Team UniversitySermon No. 2 of Grace Team University.
A sermon answering the creed of the age — “existence precedes essence” — from the Scriptures: man is made in the image of God before he makes anything (Genesis 1:26–27); meaning is received, not invented, for “this is the whole duty of man” (Ecclesiastes 12:13); truth is God’s word and God’s Son, not man’s feeling (John 17:17); and despair and death are answered outside the self, at a cross and an empty tomb (Psalm 42; 1 Corinthians 15). Kierkegaard is heard fairly and his true points reclaimed; Sartre, Camus, and Nietzsche are weighed in the balance of the Book. Adapted from the university’s study course of the same name.
