The Kings of Israel and Judah
Nadab

His Story
Son of Jeroboam, who inherited his father’s throne and his father’s religion in the same bundle. His whole reign is told in seven verses.
His Sin — How He Displeased the LORD
He “walked in the way of his father, and in his sin wherewith he made Israel to sin” — keeping the calves, the altars, and the invented worship, exactly as he had received them.
The Good He Did
Scripture records none; he is a warning that a wicked inheritance, unexamined and unrepented, is simply repeated.
The LORD’s verdict
“And he did evil in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the way of his father, and in his sin wherewith he made Israel to sin.”1 Kings 15:26 (KJV)
How His Reign Ended
Besieging Gibbethon, he was assassinated by Baasha, who then destroyed the whole house of Jeroboam — as Ahijah had prophesied, not one was left.
Lessons for Believers Today
- Sons are not bound to repeat their fathers’ sins — but they will, unless grace breaks the pattern deliberately.
- A short record in Scripture can still preach a long sermon: two years, one verdict.
